Visas
Employer Sponsored Work Visas is a common term used to describe various types of work visas.
Just to name a few, Australian working visas include the TSS visa (subclass 482) and ENS visa (subclass 186) which are one of the most common ways for skilled individuals to migrate to Australia.
Work Visas allow businesses in Australia to employ foreign workers, and when criteria are met, the Department of Home Affairs will issue a
work visa
allowing the employees to work in Australia lawfully.
Australian Work Visas
TSS visa is a temporary work visa that is often favored by businesses in Australia to hire and retain foreign employees for a few years.
Employers facing labour shortages may sponsor skilled workers to Australia where they cannot employ locally. There are 3 streams under this work visa subclass:
- Short-Term stream
- Medium-Term stream
- Agreement stream
Typically, the requirements for the TSS visa are as follows:
- be sponsored by a business in Australia, on a relevant occupation list
- no age limits
- have at least a vocational level in English
- have at least 2 years of work experience
- must be qualified or skilled
Depending on the occupation of the role, it can be used as a steppingstone for the Australian permanent residency.
The ENS visa is an Australian permanent residence work visa. There are 3 streams under this permanent work visa subclass:
- Direct Entry (DE) Stream
- Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) stream
- Agreement stream
DE stream allows for the business to sponsor an employee (and their family) who are already experienced and skilled in their occupation.
Typically, the requirements for the DE Stream are as follows:
- be sponsored by a business in Australia, on the MLTSSL
- be under 45 years of age
- have a competent level of English
- have at least 3 years of work experience
- have a positive skills assessment
TRT Stream is generally accessible for those who hold a 482 visa or 457 visa sponsored by the same business to be considered for the ENS visa.
The 494 Visa is a provisional visa – which the government has provisioned for permanent residency for the visa holders, after 3 years from the time your visa is granted.
The 494 visa is accessible for much more occupations than most other Australian working visas, but it is only available for businesses located in designated regional areas.
The following are requirements for Applicants who wish to apply for the regional visa subclass 494:
- be sponsored by an Australian business in a designated regional area
- be under 45 years of age
- three (3) years’ work experience
- competent level of English.
- skills assessment
This is great for those wanted to become permanent residents and have skills in occupations under the STSOL.
The training visa is commonly used for recent graduates and those who wish to undertake supervised training by Australian businesses to enhance their skills, or for registration purposes.
The following are requirements for Applicants who wish to apply for the training visa subclass 407:
- be sponsored by an Australian business that has offered to provide training in the approved occupations
- have a relevant qualification in your occupation
- have at least 12 months’ work experience
- be at least 18 years of age
- have at least a functional level of English
